Short Stories: "The Pedestrian" "There will Come Soft Rains" "Harrison Bergeron" "Everyday Use" "The Possibility of Evil" and "The Lottery"

For the above stories you will need to the main characters (protagonist, antagonist, dynamatic), the main conflict, a main idea (theme), a symbol, and a brief summary. You should put this information on a note card.

Novel: Animal Farm

This part of the test will be multiple choice. You should know the major characters, the seven commandments and how the commandments change, how some of the characters represent figures from the Soviet Union and Communism, and what happens in the end.  

Drama: Oedipus Rex

You will have 2-3 questions from the Test you took on this play. Remind me to give the test back to you.

Writing: Parallel Structure, Semi-Colons, Complex-Compound sentences.

You will have a short writing assignment were you write a sentence using the above.

 Today, we are going to share some of the sentences that your wrote yesterday. I want each of your to share two sentences and tell the class what type of sentences they are. 

Then we are going to discuss 1) semi-colons and 2) parallelism 

You will write a sentence using a semi-colon and a sentence using parallelism. 

Finally you will do the grammar exercises below:

A) Sentence Combining

Breakfast is my favorite meal. I like hot food for breakfast. I prefer eggs and bacon to oatmeal. A good breakfast always starts my day off right.

B) Punctuation

Put in semicolons, colons, dashes, quotation marks, where ever they are needed in the following sentences.

1. Several countries participated in the airlift Italy, Belgium, France, and Luxembourg.
